Manage a customer record
Save reliable contact and address details so the office can connect work to the right customer.
A contact your office can actually reach, attached to an address the crew can actually find, so a job, a proposal and a permit all point at the same person instead of three spellings of them.
Before you start
- Customer name
Use the household or company name your team expects to search.
- A usable contact
Have at least one dependable phone number or email address.
- The billing or site address
Add the location used to connect the customer to job work.
Follow the task on screen.

Bring an existing customer list in
If the customers already exist somewhere else, use Import customers instead of typing them again.
You know it worked when The import screen opens and shows what it matched before anything is saved.
- 4Not on this screen
Open the record to connect it to work
Narrow the list with Search customers, then open the customer to see their jobs, proposals and contact history in one place.
You know it worked when The customer record opens with the work already linked to it.
You are finished when
The customer is ready to connect to a job
The saved record has a usable contact and address and appears in the Customers workspace.
What still needs your review
- Job ready is a narrow checkJob ready means the record has a usable contact and address. It does not prove permit, schedule, payment, or compliance readiness.
- Review possible duplicatesA possible duplicate is a prompt for a person to compare records, not proof that two customers are the same.
If the screen looks different
The workspace can be in any of these states when you arrive. Find the one in front of you.
Confirm the customer record appears in the workspace before moving on.
Use the page's first-record action when no customer record exists yet.
Wait for the workspace to finish loading before selecting a record or action.
Use the retry shown on the page. Do not treat an error as an empty record set.
Reconnect before saving. Keep the page open so entered details are not mistaken for a saved record.
Read the availability note and verify any missing source details before acting on them.
Ask an organization owner for the capability named in this guide.
Review the access notice shown in FL Permit Pay before continuing.
Troubleshooting
FL Permit Pay flags a possible duplicate.
Open the existing record and compare the name, contact, and address before creating another customer.
The record is visible but cannot be changed.
Ask an organization owner for customers.manage access.
