Create a job
Start a job record, connect the basic work details, and place it in the right stage.
One record that the permit, the proposal, the crew schedule, the field photos and the money all hang off, so nobody has to ask which spreadsheet the job lives in.
Before you start
- A job name
Use the name your crew will recognize in the pipeline.
- The trade
Choose the trade that matches the work being organized.
- Customer or site details
Have the customer or job-site information ready if it is already known.
Follow the task on screen.

- Step 1. New jobOpens the new-job form. This is the only control that creates a job from scratch.
- Step 2. Import jobsBulk intake for work that already exists somewhere else.
- Step 3. BoardThe same jobs as stage columns. Portfolio, Review and Completed sit beside it.

Bring existing work in instead of typing it
If the jobs already exist in a spreadsheet or another system, use Import jobs rather than re-keying them.
You know it worked when The import screen opens and reports what it matched before anything is saved.
You are finished when
The job appears in the Jobs workspace
You can open the new job from the pipeline and see its saved trade and current stage.
What still needs your review
- Use the available stage controlTouch and keyboard users move jobs with the stage picker. Do not assume every device supports drag and drop.
- Financial access can differA person who can see a job may still have money fields masked by their role.
If the screen looks different
The workspace can be in any of these states when you arrive. Find the one in front of you.
Confirm the job appears in the workspace before moving on.
Use the page's first-record action when no job exists yet.
Wait for the workspace to finish loading before selecting a record or action.
Use the retry shown on the page. Do not treat an error as an empty record set.
Reconnect before saving. Keep the page open so entered details are not mistaken for a saved record.
Read the availability note and verify any missing source details before acting on them.
Ask an organization owner for the capability named in this guide.
Review the access notice shown in FL Permit Pay before continuing.
Troubleshooting
New job is unavailable.
Ask an organization owner for jobs.manage access.
The customer is not available to select.
Create or complete the customer record, then return to the new-job form.
The job shows a roof takeoff you did not expect, or is missing one.
The job's trade decides that. Open Edit job and set the trade, then reload the record.
